Global Fashion Collective NYFW Show

Fashion can be found wherever you travel to. With that in mind, the Global Fashion Collective launched in October 2017 and made it their mission to “support and provide valuable opportunities for new and emerging designers to showcase their talents.” This season, the collective brought Spanish clothing brand, LENIFRO and Chicago based contemporary Indian fashion designer, Rhea Singh’s brand REA to NYFW on Friday, February 9th.

LENIFRO opened the show with an epic rap song dedicated to the brand. Entitled “The Retro Dreamer Collection”, the ensembles reflected just that. Vibrant hues of electric pink, purple, yellow and blue flooded the runway as each model strut to the photographers to show off their street style looks. Dramatic shoulders and tight mini dresses were a constant in the collection along with leopard print and lightning bolt accents. Helen López, LENIFRO’s CEO, launched the brand in 2020 but draws on 80’s influences which she emphasized in each look for this new collection.

REA was up next and was just as show stopping as LENIFRO. Inspired by Heritage, Designed by Culture, Created for You, REA showcased a stunning selection of looks. Entitled Eternal Threads, the Fall Collection featured an array of mens and women’s wear. Unique prints were implemented into womenswear designs and their male counterparts. Pencil midi skirts were also a staple along with tailored blazers. Rhea included dramatic sleeves and beautiful beading on a few garments as well which added sparkle to the runway. Rhea also honored Indian style within each garment she showcased for her newest collection.
